Why LED Lighting?
LEDs have long been the first choice for many kinds of lighted buttons and switches, indicator lights, and display panels. With the recent development of high-brightness (HB) LEDs they are now finding a place in practically all kinds of lighting.
LED lighting has been used commercially and in industry for some time now.
Recent improvements in LED technology have significantly increased the quality and lowered the cost, especially for bright white LEDs. This has opened the door for consumers and small businesses to enjoy the energy savings and reliability offered by LED lighting.
- An LED light bulb can last you up to 100,000 hours compared to 8,000 for compact fluorescent and 1,000 for an incandescent. This equals to 12 hours of light per day for 12 years!
- LED light bulbs are so energy efficient that they use only 2-10 watts of electricity (1/3rd to 1/30th of Incandescent or CFL). Depending on how often you have them on, they'll actually pay for themselves in just over a year.
- LED light bulbs run cool, so they're safer to use than fragile, burning hot halogen and incandescent bulbs.
- LEDs do not use mercury like CFLs - so disposal concerns aren't the same.
- LED light bulbs bring a white light into a room. Unlike the yellow light we're so used to seeing from incandescent bulbs, the white light cast by LEDs is closer to the color temperature of daylight.
| 15 Reasons to switch to LED Lighting As the world is moving towards energy saving, new energy development, green material usage and reducing carbon dioxide release, LED lighting is one of the promising industry in the next generation. |
|
| 1. | Electrical Power Saving: LED lighting system saves electrical power, 80% compared with incandescent bulb, 50% compared with compact fluorescent lamp, 60% compared with fluorescent lamp, 75% compared with halogen lamp, 80% compared with mercury gas lamp, and 65% compared with high pressure sodium lamp. |
| 2. | Durable Life span: LED has life span more than 50,000 hours. System life span for LED lamp is over 20,000 hours. Compared with life spans of other lamps, incandescent lamp has 1,000 hours, halogen lamp has 2,000 hours, fluorescent lamp has 2,000 hours, compact fluorescent lamp has 6,000 hours, mercury gas lamp has 8,000 hours, and high pressure sodium lamp has 12,000 hours. |
| 3. | Green Material Usage: LED lamp contains no hazardous solid, liquid nor gas. It does not contain mercury, cadmium, lead, chromium nor xenon gas. |
| 4. | Low Maintenance Expense: Longer life span reduces replacement expense. Stable system reduces maintenance expense and low power consumption reduces set up costs. |
| 5. | No UV Light: Does not destroy objects being lighted, does not cause freckles and solar lentigines. Safe for gallery & museum artifacts. |
| 6. | No IR Light: Does not radiate heat; demanding less air conditioning. |
| 7. | Selectable Color Temperature: Wide range of colors to choose from, warm white to cold white LED is available from 2,600K to 10,000K. |
| 8. | Electrical Safety: Low DC current and voltage. |
| 9. | No EM (Electromagnetic) and No RF(Radio Frequency): No harmful radiation; reduces effects of migraine from traditional light sources. |
| 10. | Anti-glaring: Light diffusers or conductors integrated for anti-glaring and eye safety. |
| 11. | Comfortable Light Pattern and Optimal Lumen: Homogenous lighting, no light pressure, creating comfortable setting for eyes. |
| 12. | High Light Source and System Efficiency: Performance of light source and system efficiency for LED lighting surpasses than any other traditional lighting. |
| 13. | Low Carbon Dioxide Release: Prevent generating warming effect and harmful gas. |
| 14. | Better CRI (Color Rendering Index): LED lighting has better CRI than mercury gas, high pressure sodium, low pressure sodium and HID lamps. |
| 15. | No Light Decay in Extreme Low Temperature: Fluorescent lamp and compact fluorescent lamp have highly lighting decay at low temperatures. |
